Sharyn Russell Marakovits

November 24, 1951 — November 6, 2023

Sharyn Russell Marakovits left us unexpectedly on November 6, 2023 at the age of 71. She was born on November 24, 1951 to the late Patrick John Russell and Mildred (Forrest) Russell in Bristol, Ct. Sharyn grew up surrounded by her sisters and their children with whom she was very close to. She graduated from Bristol Eastern High School in 1969. She started her career as a respiratory technician at St. Francis Hospital and Mt. Sinai Hospital. She worked as a cardiopulmonary tech at Bristol Hospital for years and before retiring she worked for Prime

Healthcare in Glastonbury.

Sharyn raised her 2 daughters, Amy and Meghan Tedford, in Bristol, then moved to Rocky Hill, before retiring in Bluffton, SC. She loved her home in SC where she lived next door to her sister and best friend, Patricia Ann Russell. She adored her dog, Charlie, who was always by her side.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren who will miss her terribly. She was so proud of all of them and enjoyed watching them play sports, dance in recitals, and would show off their artwork any chance she could. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and enjoyed watching her great nieces and nephews grow up and become adults. Her niece, Kelsey Gonzalez (Eric), and their 3 boys were very close to her and she loved spending time with them.

She had immense love for Kim, Gregory, and Kelsey Marakovits whom she watched grow into wonderful adults.

Sharyn is survived by her two daughters: Amy Lorenz (Frederick) of Hilton Head Island, SC and Meghan Rafe (Gary) of Warsaw, Va. and 4 grandchildren: Aiven, Eleanor, and Molly Lorenz and Ayva Tedford. Her beloved sister, Patricia Ann Russell of Bluffton, SC, many nieces and nephews, her longtime best friend, Terry Hannon (Michael) and so many more friends who loved her for her loyalty, kindness, and compassion. She was just the best mom, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Beverly Sierra and Barbara Ozirsky. Sharyn’s legacy of love, loyalty, and strength will live on in her children and grandchildren. Our memory of her beautiful blue eyes and smile will help heal our hearts in time.

A celebration of life will be held for family and close friends at a later date.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that a tree be planted in her memory.
