Sheldon H. Cook, 84, of Bluffton, SC died Wednesday, April 08, 2015 at Ridgeland Nursing Center.
Mr. Cook was born on April 1, 1931 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Samuel N. Cook and Sadie Baumstein Cook. He grew up in New Hampshire and began his formal education at Dartmouth College, ultimately graduating from the University of New Hampshire where he earned a degree in business. While in college he was a member of R.O.T.C. and after graduating continued his service in the United States Army, serving as a Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. He had a successful sales career as the owner of a residential and commercial company, representing lighting providers. He was a member of Temple Oseh Shalom. He was an avid tennis, billiards, and poker player and loved to travel.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Patricia Owen Cook; daughters, Dr. Rebecca L. Cook (Dr. Patricia Paiser) of Minneapolis, MN and Leslie Cohen (Dr. Robert D. Cohen) of Solon, OH; siblings, Barbara Dworsky (Allen) of Vernon, CT, Allen Cook of Brookeville, FL, and Marjorie Maloney (Dr. Paul Maloney) of Alton, ME; and grandchildren, Cade B. Cohen and Kelsey S. Cohen.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Tidewater Hospice.
