Sheldon Don Hayes

Born to Maxine and Hugh Hayes Sept. 13, 1953 Washington, DC. Died in Hilton Head Hospital Jan. 11, 2025 Hilton Head Island, SC.

Beloved Husband to his wife of 33 years Marti Hayes.

Survived by his daughter Kristol Michele “Hayes” Tinsley and son-in-law Joe of Charlotte Hall, MD. Gained three stepchildren in the marriage: Linda M. Atherholt of Marydel, MD. Aaron L. Atherholt of Chester, MD. Wayne D. Atherholt of Perkiomenville, PA. Along with 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Sheldon worked at many different occupations during his life from mechanics, landscaping, tree work, military service for 7 years in the US Army, HVAC, carpentry, but the one he liked the most was “police officer”. He was always willing to help anyone do anything, anytime. He liked fishing, motorcycles, guns and shooting. His latest was music playing mandolin, guitar, and bass guitar.

He also loved going to the Hilton Head Church of Christ, where we became members in 2006.

He always had a smile a hand shake or a hug for those who came in contact with him.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, South Carolina. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation, at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, South Carolina at 2:00 PM.
