Sherry G. (Goralczyk) Tonazzi

September 3, 1946 — February 2, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherry G. (Goralczyk) Tonazzi, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, who left this world on Friday February 2, 2024. Sherry was born in Utica, NY on September 3, 1946 to the late Henry and Bertha (Malik) Goralczyk. She was raised and educated in New York Mills, NY class of 1964 where she enjoyed cheerleading. Sherry became the devoted wife of Raymond J Tonazzi on August 19th, 1967 and the cherished mother of Gina (James) Vono and Renee (David Jr) Selover, and adoring grandmother of Garrett and Anika Selover, and Greyson Vono.

Along with her immediate family, Sherry is also survived by her sister Patricia Geary, sister in law Donna Morgan, and brothers in law Kyle Tonazzi, Dan Forsyth, and Eoin Manering, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and cherished friends. Sherry was predeceased by her parents Henry and Bertha Goralczyk, Josephine and Renato Tonazzi, her sister Sandra Hadfield, and brothers in law Gary Hadfield, and Ronald Geary.

Sherry was a human resource specialist for many years living in Clinton NY, Lawrenceville GA, Baldwinsville NY and Bluffton SC. Sherry brought warmth and love to everyone she met. Her infectious smile, positive spirit and vibrant personality left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to know her. Sherry had a profound love for life and found joy in the simplest pleasures!

A devoted family woman, Sherry's love for her husband, Ray, and her daughters, Gina and Renee, was unparalleled. She found immense joy in being a grandmother and embraced the role with boundless enthusiasm. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she delighted in spending time and sharing laughter and love with them.

Sherry had a special connection to "The River," where she found solace, family and good times. Some of Sherry's greatest passions were gardening, connecting with the outdoors, dancing, yoga, and was always ready to make memories with friends and family. She was active in the Catholic church volunteering for several organizations. She loved playing bocce, walking, swimming and relaxing by the pool in retirement in both Japanese Gardens Venice, FL and Sun City Bluffton, SC. She explored the many places she visited and was not afraid to go off the beaten path.

In celebrating her life, we honor the legacy of a woman who embraced each day with love, kindness, and an unwavering appreciation for the beauty in the world and the people she loved. A private celebration will be held in Hilton Head with immediate family in February and a Catholic Service in Baldwinsville, NY.
