Sherwin Francis Tames, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. Born on January 5, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, Sherwin lived a full and vibrant life defined by curiosity, entrepreneurship, and a love for connecting with people around the world.

Sherwin attended New York University and went on to build a successful career as an entrepreneur and businessman. His professional life reflected his independent spirit, sharp mind, and passion for innovation.

Earlier in life, Sherwin proudly served his country in the United States Army Signal Corps. His interest in communications extended far beyond his military service and became one of his lifelong passions. He was an active member of the International HAM Radio Club, where he enjoyed connecting with fellow enthusiasts across the globe.

Sherwin had a deep love for travel and adventure, always eager to explore new places, people and cultures. He was also an enthusiastic home cook who delighted in experimenting with cuisines and sharing meals with family and friends.

Those who knew him will remember his lively conversations, master storytelling, his curiosity about the world, and his warm, engaging personality.

Sherwin is survived by his beloved wife, Ingeborg Tames, and his son, Jason Tames. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Tames; his sister, Sue; and his parents, Benjamin and Miriam Tames of Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Sherwin’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers or condolences cards, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sherwin’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Meals on Wheels – Bluffton.
