Shirley Carol Elwood Peeples

Shirley Carol Elwood Peeples, 55 of Ridgeland, SC passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 in the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 6, 1955. She was the daughter of Dwight V. Elwood and the late Laura Nell Hatch Elwood.She taught school for 23 years in the Jasper County School System. She was former Teacher of the Year. She taught gifted and talented students in the accelerated program. She was a member of the Ridgeland Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.She is survived by her husband, Michael E. Peeples of Ridgeland, SC; one son, Michael Andrew Peeples of Ridgeland, SC; one daughter, Paige Elizabeth Peeples of Ridgeland, SC; father and stepmother, Dwight V. and Lynn Elwood of Lake Butler, FL; one brother, Milton Terry Owens of Alabama; two sisters, Darlene Young of Alabama and Laura Kemp of Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Eddie Peeples.Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, November 22, 2010 in the Ridgeland Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with burial in the Grahamville Cemetery, Ridgeland. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm at the church. The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
