Shirley D Wanket

Shirley D. Wanket, 86, of Bluffton, SC was peacefully called home to the lord on Tuesday September 7th, 2021.  Shirley was born on December 16th, 1934 in Belmont, North Carolina.

She is survived by her niece Ana Cecilia Gomez, nephews Bernie, Jose and Chuck Traywick, and sister-in-law Blanca Traywick.  Shirley was preceded in death by her mother Artie May Houser, her father L. Bain Traywick, her brothers Bob, Gary, and Charles Traywick and her husband Thomas Wanket.

Shirley was a wonderful sister, aunt, and friend.  She had a successful professional career in the airline industry.  She retired from Eastern Airlines and moved to Lexington, South Carolina to be closer to family.  In Lexington she met her late husband, Tom who was the love of her life.  They moved to Sun City in 1997 and together were able to take full advantage of the great lifestyle the Lowcountry has to offer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Lowcountry Presbyterian Church in Bluffton, SC, conducted by the Rev. Christine Herrin. The family will receive friends following the service.  Masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made in her name to Lowcountry Presbyterian Church or the Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton.
