Sister Mary Gallagher, RSM, 81 of Bluffton passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2012 in the Memorial Medical University, Savannah, GA.She was born in Chicago, IL on June 23, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Rosina Neeson Gallagher.She lived in Bluffton for the past fourteen years coming from Aurora, IL. She was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Order, Sisters of Mercy for the past 62 years. She was founder of the Mercy Ministries of the Lowcountry; The Hardeeville Thrift Store and Food Distribution Program and the Jasper County Neighbors United which built 26 homes in Jasper County.She is survived by Sister Lupe Stump of Bluffton and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Patrick and Gerald Dunstan and sisters, Elizabeth G. Durkin and Margaret G. Brown.Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 23, 2012 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton. A Wake Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 23, 2012 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hardeeville.
