Stanley Lovell Morton

January 23, 1971 — May 13, 2016

Stanley Lovell Morton, 45 years old, tragically passed away from a three vehicle hit and run on Friday, May 13, 2016. Stan was born Jan. 23, 1971, to Emma and William Morton, in Decatur. Illinois. Stan was one of four siblings from Emma; and also one of four from William and Step Mother Sharon Morton. Stan has seven surviving siblings Shauntae, Elshawn, Ramon, Omar, Corey, Christopher Morton, and Glenn Gibson. And one like a brother sibling, “Big” James. Stan is survived by his wife, Debbie Morton, of Bluffton, S.C., three children, Tanzi Monea, Love, and Justus Morton; four step children, Rachael, her husband, Chad Lafenhagen; Russell Jr., Riley and Rosstin Cook; four grandchildren; Ray, Ayane, Riona, and Ayden and many extended family and friends. Stan served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, from 1995 to 2015. He retired with Honors from the service on November 30, 2015, as a Staff Sargent. Stan served four tours overseas: Iraqi Freedom for three tours and one tour for Enduring Freedom in Kuwait. Stan was an expert rifleman, sharpshooter and received several medals of Honor during his service. Stan started his military career on Parris Island, S.C. then was stationed in Hawaii, California, Japan and back to South Carolina where he retired. Stan enjoyed his leisure time with his wife, Debbie and loved to DJ. His DJ name was DJ Tunes, where he often DJ at parties for family and friends. He had plans to purchase an RV and travel the country prior to his untimely death. Stan was a mentor to many and a loving husband and father, he will be immensely missed by all who knew him. Services for Stan will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Marine Corps Air Station Chapel on Saturday, May 28, 2016. MCAS Beaufort Chapel, 566 Geiger Blvd., Beaufort, SC, 29904.
