Stella Lancia

Stella Louise Lancia, 80, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. 

Stella was born on October 29, 1945, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late John Wyskiel and Rita Arsenault Wyskiel. She grew up in Bridgeport before marrying Anthony Lancia and beginning a life of her own in Stratford, Connecticut, where they raised their two daughters, Mary and Lisa.

To know Stella was to know someone who genuinely loved bringing joy to the people around her. She loved to make people smile, and even more, she loved to make them laugh. She had a generous heart, a kind spirit, and an abundance of love that she gave freely to family, friends, and anyone she felt she could help. If there was something she could do for someone, she did it.

Family meant everything to Stella. She treasured time spent with those she loved, and she especially adored being a grandmother and recently a great-grandmother. Her family brought her tremendous pride and happiness, and being surrounded by them was among her greatest joys.

Stella also knew how to enjoy life. She loved singing, dancing, laughing, celebrating, and being around people. After making her home in Bluffton, she formed friendships that became an important part of her life and always looked forward to gathering for parties, music, conversation, and plenty of laughter.

Stella is survived by her daughter, Mary Lancia of Bluffton; her sister, Ann Marie Fama of Bluffton; her brother, Richard Wyskiel and his wife, Pat, of Connecticut; her grandchildren, Christian Sjogren, Galiana Sjogren, and Robert Sjogren; her beloved great-grandson, Soren Sjogren; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lisa Lancia, as well as her parents, John and Rita.

Stella leaves behind far more than a list of names or dates. She leaves behind laughter shared, people helped, celebrations remembered, and a family who knew how deeply they were loved. The kindness and joy she gave so freely throughout her life will continue in the memories of those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

A celebration of Stella’s life will be announced at a later date. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family
