Stephen T Bush
December 24,1945-April 15, 2026
Stephen Thomas Bush was born on December 24, 1945 to Stanislaus and Mary Buchalski of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. He was a very welcome Christmas present to his parents and his nine-year-old sister Carole. He attended St Stanislaus Kostka School until the second grade moving to Maspeth, Queens. He attended Saint Mary’s Help of Christian School. He attended Saint Francis prep high school where he played baseball and basketball. He ran track as well, winning several medals. He had a very competitive spirit. He also attended St. John’s University in New York and the College of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio.
He married Barbara Elaine Mogilski on October 15, 1966, almost made his 60th anniversary.
He was an avid fisherman, going 80 miles offshore to the Gulfstream was his kind of a fishing trip. He was competitive in fishing as well, winning several tournaments. When his fishing days were winding down, he was invited to be the Weigh Master at the MRS fishing tournaments. He really enjoyed that. Being around people that were as enthusiastic about fishing as he was made his day.
His store was also a very important part of his life. Making his customers happy and satisfied with their purchase was his goal. Retiring in 2005 was the culmination of almost 20 years of his work in Bluffton. He loved Bluffton and appreciated the support of the people of Bluffton.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his sister, Carole, her sons Chris, Michael, John, and Richard, great nephews Stephen and Patrick, and great niece, Phyllis, brother-in-law Michael and nephews David and Anthony cousins Pat and Jack, Lorraine and Frank, Tom and Gerard, brother-in-law, Michael, nephews, David, and Anthony, niece, Denise, her husband, Tom, daughter, Grace, nephew, Kevin, and his wife, Patty, niece Josephine, her husband, Bob, nephew, Vincent. He also had 4 Godchildren.
He will be remembered by all his fishing and shrimping friends, too many to mention, but you know who you are. Thank you all for your friendship, need calls, and concern over the past six years. You kept him up upbeat and optimistic. Always remember him that way.
