Stephen James Mcculloch

Stephen James McCulloch, 89, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on January 19, 2024. Stephen was born in New Rochelle, New York on August 8, 1934 to the late James and Helen McCulloch. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy McCulloch and their son, Christopher McCulloch.

Stephen was raised in New Rochelle. He graduated from Iona Preparatory school in 1953 and St. Michael’s College in Winooski Park, Vermont in 1957.  Stephen married Dorothy Helen Heenehan on December 28, 1957 and they eventually settled in Poughkeepsie, New York where they raised their six children. Stephen was a financial analyst for IBM for over thirty years. He loved to take his family skiing in the winter and to the beach in Madison, Connecticut for the summers.  Stephen and Dorothy lived in Madison for several years before moving to Bluffton. In recent years, he rediscovered his passion for golf and spent as much time as possible on the golf course in Sun City.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Hyde McCulloch; his children, Stephen McCulloch Jr. (Kathleen), Thomas McCulloch, Maureen McCulloch Bliss (Michael), Kevin McCulloch and Anne McCulloch Grogan; his eleven grandchildren, Veronica, Hannah, Katie, Meghan, Jimmy, Jamie, Robert, Gavin, Claire, Caroline and Teddy; his five great grandchildren and his sister, Helen Allen.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, February 12, 2024 at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Dr., Bluffton with inurnment to follow in Lowcountry Memorial Gardens, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton.

The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation in Stephen’s honor be considered to Bluffton Self Help Home - Bluffton Self Help
