Stephen Claire Smith

Stephen Claire Smith, age 69 of Bluffton passed away at Beaufort Memorial Hospital on November 23, 2018 after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Smith was born in Cooperstown, NY on January 23, 1949 to the late Marvin Smith and Ivy Larsen Smith.

Mr. Smith retired after 32 years of service as a technician for IBM Corporation. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, Christian and avid golfer.  He was the former President of Ballston Spa Country Club in New York and served on the Board of Trustees at Southern Pines Elks Lodge in North Carolina.

Mr. Smith is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Sandra Denny Smith of Bluffton; his daughter, Renee Sylvester (Jon) of Ludowici, GA; his brothers, David Smith (Marie), Bruce Smith (Kareen) and Glenn Smith (Sue) and his sister, Karen Polomaine all of Schenectady, New York and his granddaughter, Jessica Sylvester of Ludowici, GA. He was predeceased by his brother Henning.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation, P O Box 2233, Beaufort, SC  29901.
