In Loving Memory of Sue Ellen Stickley

Sue Ellen Stickley, 76, of coastal South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2025, surrounded by her husband of 48 years and their daughter.

She loved Jesus, and she was prepared to meet Him.

Born in Memphis and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, Sue Ellen was adventurous, warm-hearted, and full of life. She had a gift for making friends effortlessly and carried a spirit of joy that brightened every place she touched. She graduated from Bearden High School and later attended East Tennessee

State University. After college, Sue Ellen began her career in Washington, D.C., serving on the staff of the late Congressman James Quillen of Tennessee’s 1st District. It was during this time that she crossed paths with a young Marine training at Quantico—another Tennessean—who would become the love of her life. Sue Ellen and Harry married and began a beautiful journey marked by service, adventure, and unwavering devotion.

As a Marine wife, Sue Ellen embraced each new home with open arms. From Okinawa to San Diego— where she welcomed her beloved daughter, Jessica Rhea—she made every duty station warmer and brighter. Later, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, she taught school before the family returned to Washington, D.C. There, she joined the staff of the Congressional Page School in the Library of Congress. When the school closed, she continued her life of service through a successful decade in real estate as a Century 21 realtor.

In time, it was Sue Ellen’s turn to choose the next chapter. She led her retired Marine to coastal South Carolina, where they entered a treasured season of life—one filled with dear friends, sunshine, laughter, and the quiet, steady joy of a life lived with love.

Sue Ellen is survived by her husband, Harry; her daughter, Jessica, and son-in-law, Darren; her beloved grandson, Connor; and her brother, Glenn; along with many

other loving family members. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and a radiant spirit that touched all who knew her.

Her family will forever remember her unfiltered personality, her deep compassion, and the light she carried into the world—a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lovable Paws Rescue in her name.
