Susan Soper Doddridge was born March 19, 1963 in Richmond, VA, the youngest of 4 children, to Jerry and Marta Soper. Her childhood was spent in Merritt Island, FL, and teenage years in Columbia, MD. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Psychology in 1985. She worked for over 30 years in HR, project management and website design, most recently with UMBC Training Centers. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Bruce Doddridge and their 3 children, Derek, Juliana and Matthew; her mother Marta Soper; her brother Bob and his wife Sue; 2 sisters, Cindy and her husband Jeff Ross, and Kathy and her husband Tom Nutter; and 5 nieces and nephews and 1 great niece: Charlie Soper and his wife Annie and their daughter Eleanor, Dana Soper, Chris Soper, Katy Ross and her husband Tim Thannisch, and Barrett Ross. Her father, Jerry Soper, died the same day, May 2, 2016. Susan was a woman of vibrant faith and very active in her church. She was quick to offer a helping hand with a smile to her family, friends, church, community and mankind. Her mission work in Kenya, women’s Bible study and ministry, home crafts, healthy cooking, sharing the family beach house in the Outer Banks, and hospitality were her passions. A Celebration of Life for Susan and her father Jerry will be held Saturday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Community Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Susan’s memory may be made to PCC (4209 Big Bethel Road, Yorktown, VA 23693) to the “Aweer Fund.”
