Susan Field Johans

Susan Field Johans passed away peacefully at her home in Bluffton, SC on August 6, 2026 after a lingering battle with cancer. She was 74.

Susan was born in Windber, PA to Richard and Jean Ripple. She was greatly influenced by the small-town values of Western Pennsylvania. She attained her nursing degree and became one of the first nurses at Hershey Medical Center in the early 1970s.

She later moved to Harrisburg, PA and served on several charitable committees. It was as Chairperson of Harrisburg’s popular Derby Day that she met her future husband, Greg Johans.

Susan loved her family, her country and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Susan was kind, quick to help, and carried herself with an approachable dignity. She was a great lady.

She is survived by her husband, Greg, her brothers, Tom (Gina) and Richard Ripple, her sister Patty (Brian) Bell, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be private in Bluffton, SC.
