Susan Ethel Mulz Bullard of Bluffton, South Carolina, and a former long-time resident of Anderson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on January 1st, 2025.
Susan was born on December 7, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to John Michael and Edith Mildred Tenure Mulz. She graduated from West Hempstead High School in 1960. She attended Pembroke University where she met and married her husband of 62 years, Perry Minson Bullard. She later attended Southern Wesleyan University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She went on to earn her master’s degree from Clemson University. Susan taught elementary school for 30 years at Wren Primary School.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Perry, two daughters, that were also educators, Christine Bullard Moore (Ed) of Starr, South Carolina, and Kimberly Bullard Grennan (Greg) of Hoschton, GA. She has two wonderful grandchildren, Brian Joseph Grennan and Kathleen Marie Grennan. She also enjoyed her fun-loving grand-dogs.
Susan is predeceased by her brother, John Michael Mulz (Kathy). Her surviving siblings are JoAnn Lemons (Charlie), and Tom Mulz (Jeanette). She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
During Susan’s life, she bravely battled a genetic disease called Polycystic Kidney Disease. She did five years of dialysis, while working, before receiving her gift of life in 2004. This kidney transplant allowed her to have many extra years.
Susan and Perry spent their early retirement years traveling in a motorhome. Some of their favorite places to visit were in Wyoming and Montana. Their favorite spot to visit was Jenny Lake in the Grand Tetons.
Susan and Perry moved to Sun City, Hilton Head in 2019 to enjoy their retirement in the low country.

Visitation and a funeral mass will be Monday, January 6th at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC.
