Sydney Frank Payne Stanley passed away on September 25 at Coastal Carolina Hospital following a three-month illness. Frank was born in Collingham, England, on January 25, 1924, the second son of the late James and Florence Stanley.After graduating from Sir Thomas Magnus School, Newark, England, he studied art at Welbeck Abbey in Nottingham, and was a clerk for the British Railway. In 1941 at the age of 17 he enlisted in the Royal Air Force. He trained in England and was posted to Hillside Camp in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). When his division was disbanded he transferred to the British Army
