Taylor Evans Coulter

Taylor Evans Coulter, 87, of Ridgeland, South Carolina departed this life on January 7, 2010 in Hardeeville, SC.He was born to Otto and Mattie Coulter of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee on July 2, 1922 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.During World War II, Mr. Coulter served his country in the South-East Asian Theatre, along the infamous Burma Road, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant in the US Army. Upon his return, he was employed by Dixie Yarns of Chattanooga, Tennessee, from which he retired after more than forty years. He then worked part-time as a machinist for several more years.Mr. Coulter was a longstanding member of Stoney Point Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, but he attended services where ever he found himself to be.He leaves behind to mourn, his wife of sixty years, Carolyn Morgan Coulter of Ridgeland, SC; four children, Odis Ann (Leroy) Norris of Beaufort, SC; Jimmy E. (Amelia) Coulter of Atlanta, GA; Constance Layne of Chattanooga, TN; Penny Peek of Cave Springs, GA; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; one sister, Constance (James) Boaz of Chattanooga, TN and many devoted relatives and friends, especially Dorothy Jones and family, former co-worker Clayton Rothwell, Lois Keys and Gloria Taylor, all of Chattooga, TN. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beulah (James) Jackson of Chicago, IL.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 310 W. Adams Ave., Ridgeland, SC with burial in the Beaufort National Cemetery, Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:30 am. A visitation will be held from 3 til 8 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the funeral home.Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with their arrangements.
