Telia Long, a Savannah resident, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026 in the arms of our Heavenly Father. She was born September 11, 1931, in Grays, SC to the late Robbie and Blanche Smith. After graduating from Candler Hospital School of Nursing, she began her career as an industrial registered nurse at Stone Container, formerly Continental Can Company. She raised three daughters she was devoted to her entire life, and they were equally devoted to her. She accepted a position as manager of the medical department at Gulfstream and was responsible for implementing the wellness program and smoking cessation programs.
After retiring, she moved to Tybee Island, GA with her beloved sister and many beautiful, fun memories were made. She met the love of her life, Don Harwood, and traveled the world, making more memories.
She leaves behind her three daughters, Pamela Yanner of Wilmington Island, GA, Kimberly (Paul) Mathews of Tybee Island, and Patricia (Robert) Murphy of Wilmington Island; her grandchildren, Maria (Dave) Cornett (who will always hold a special place in her heart), Amber (Ross) Yanner, and Ryan Murphy; also, great-grandchildren, Davey (Sarah) Cornett and Chris Cornett; sister, Roberta Stough; nephews and niece, Mike (Tracey) Stough, Tanya (Dave) Charlton, and Mark Stough.
