Teri Barnes aged 72 passed away on August 21st, 2025 from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. Teri was born February 13th, 1953 at the Bronx Hospital, in the Bronx, New York to her proud parents Morris and Freida Karmel, who have preceded her in death. Teri had an older sister Rose, who also has preceded her in death. Teri is survived by Greg, her husband of 31 years and her son Evan Grube of a previous marriage.

Teri graduated early from James Monroe High School in the Bronx in 1970. After high school she attended and graduated from Syracuse University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1974. After graduating from Syracuse University Teri went on to Hofstra University to receive her Master of Science degree in Education in 1976 majoring in Special Education.

Teri taught Special Education, Elementary and Middle School students in the Anne Arundel County Public School System in Maryland for 32 years. Upon retirement Teri and her husband moved to the community of Sun City Hilton Head in Bluffton, South Carolina. She enjoyed meeting new people from all over, she loved playing cards and board games, taught and loved playing Mah Jhong, playing pickleball which became her passion, playing bocce, swimming and sightseeing not just locally but around the Country and Canada, nothing like a good road trip. She enjoyed making their home a home by her talent of interior decorating. She developed a knack for crafting and creating personalized cards for special occasions.

Teri always told Greg that her last words upon leaving this earth will be “Toodles Everyone”.

In lieu of flowers a consideration of a monetary donation in memory of Teri to the Friends of Caroline Hospice, 329 Friends Ln, Ridgeland, SC 29936 or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047 would be greatly appreciated.
