Terri Rodney-Brown, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend passed away on December 29 after battling cancer for almost eight years.
Terri was born in Montgomery, Alabama. She was fortunate to have had 3 very successful careers. Terri started out in Marketing & Advertising, working for an ad agency making her way to top executive. She had transitioned to working for FOX and then ABC, when she felt called to become a Paramedic. This path took her to Atlanta, in 1993, where she met her wife of 28 years. In 2000, Terri received the Healthcare Heroes Award for Allied Health Profession and received The Star of Life, “The Best of the Best”, one of ninety-two paramedics across the country to be recognized. Terri returned to college, and in 2006 joined The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Division of Emergency Operations (DEO), retiring in 2016 as the Deputy Director of Communications in the Center for Global Health. Terri and her family moved to Colleton River in 2021. Terri was an avid golfer, passionate about Alabama Football “Roll Tide”, the Green Bay Packers, music, movies and books. Terri enjoyed the beauty surrounding us in Colleton River and was grateful for everyday on this earth. Terri always stated, “Thank you for being my blessing today” and she was our blessing.
Terri is survived by her wife, Coleen, son Jake, siblings Marty (Bob) Montgomery-Elrod (GA), Stacy Sapp (FL), Leigh Kirkland (GA), Mark (Angela) Brown (AL), Diana (John) Torres-Koss (CA), sisters-in-law Seana (Stuart) Reber (NY), Susan (Tom) Benson (NY), Jennifer (Gordon) Jones (NY), seven nieces, six nephews, four great nieces and 1 great nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents (Maria and James Brown) and mother and father in-law (Linda and Raymond Rodney).
Family and friends are welcome to attend the “Celebration of Life” Service on February 21st at 4pm in the Nicholas Ballroom. Terri would like everyone to wear “color” no black! If you would like to honor Terri’s memory, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice so life can continue in the best way forward for others.
