Thomas John Armond

Thomas John Armond, age 76, of Bluffton, SC died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Mr. Armond was born on December 16, 1940 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late John Armond and Helen (Kalvaitis) Armond. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for 45 years as a Logistic Engineer with the Sikorsky Aircraft Division of United Technologies Corporation in Stratford, CT and later with the Royal Australian Air Force. While living in Bluffton he worked part-time at the Hidden Cypress Golf Course. He was a retired member of the Watertown, CT Volunteer Fire Department where he served for 10 years. He was also a member and 4th Degree Knight of the Cardinal Bernardin, Council 12263, Knights of Columbus, where he was a Past Youth Director and member of Sun City Veterans' Association, serving as Director of Donations. Mr. Armond is survived by his loving wife, Regina (Oldakowski) Armond; daughters, Sheryl (Armond) Mala & husband, Gary, of Farmington, CT & Janae (Armond) Peluso & husband, Peter of Watertown, CT; sister, Loretta Mulhall of Waterbury, CT; granddaughters, Alicia Mala, Alayna Mala, Maya Peluso, Lola Peluso; and several nieces & nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 Saint Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC 29909. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Middlesex Hospital Comprehensive Breast Center 540 Saybrook Road Middletown, CT 06457.
