Dr. Thomas Beville Carroll LANCASTER - Dr. Thomas Beville Carroll, III, "Tommy" of Lancaster passed away on May 8, 2016 at Springs Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Dr. Thomas Beville Carroll, Jr. and Mildred Turner Carroll. He was born March 14, 1939 in Savannah, Georgia. Tommy was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He received his medical degree and completed his radiology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. He practiced for 12 years with Pitts Radiology Group in Columbia, South Carolina before moving to Lancaster. There he served as Chief Radiologist for 20 years. During his tenure at Springs Memorial, he served as the hospital's Chief of Staff for one year. He is a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster. A supporter of the Carolina Gamecocks in both good and bad times, he was a member of the Gamecock Club and a scholarship donor. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Lancaster Golf Club who enjoyed the time spent with his golf buddies. He will be missed by his friends at the Loyal Order of the Moose in Lancaster. His other passions were fishing, gardening, and birdwatching. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Tommy is survived by his wife Carol of 55 years, his 3 children, Vickie Carroll Lambert (Marty), Sherry Lynne Carroll (John), and David Brubaker Carroll (Lisa), 8 grandchildren, Blake Carroll, Thomas Lambert, Megan Horton, Spencer Carroll, Andrew Lambert, Steven Carroll, Matthew Lambert, and Lindsay Carroll, and 3 great-children, Leighton Carroll, Gunnar Horton, and Bryce Carroll. He is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Millege Carroll (Anne Marie). Thanks to all of his friends in the medical community. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Kimbrell of Lancaster, Dr. Stan Juk of Columbia, and for the comfort and love of Dr. Jamie Wise of Lancaster. Visitation is Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Tommy and Carol. The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Lancaster at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Graveside services will be held at Low Country Memorial Gardens in Bluffton, SC on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Darnell Barner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the University of South Carolina-Lancaster. Lancaster Funeral Home is serving the family of Dr. Carroll.
