Thomas Edward Carty Jr.

Thomas (Tom) Edward Carty Jr.  77 years old of Okatie, SC, born in Louisville, KY April 7, 1947 to Thomas and Evelyn Carty Sr.  He was surrounded by family when he passed on August 23, 2024.

Raised in Southern California, Tom graduated from Pacific High School  in 1965.  He attended Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky prior to being drafted in 1968,  served in the Army in Vietnam and was awarded  a purple heart.  After service, he briefly attended Ohio State University and graduated from Columbus Technical Institute in 1972.

Tom worked in Medical Sales as a Rep/Consultant for 43 years and loved making cold calls and working with his peers and customers.  He worked for Bowman Medical and Randolph Surgical out of Columbus, OH, J and P Resources throughout the eastern United States, Durr-Fillauer Medical Inc, Bergen Brunswig Medical Corp and McKesson General Medical Corp out of Savannah, GA.

Tom was a loving husband and father and a companion for 9 years to his little booger, Cassi, a schnoodle.  He enjoyed photography and music and lived for his family and golf.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol, of 49 years, Okatie, SC, daughter, Katie Cutsinger (Adam) of Louisville, KY, son Patrick Carty (Susan) of Duluth, GA and granddaughter, Aria.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Evelyn Carty Sr., and his sister, Pamela Carty-Ends

Visitation will be held Wednesday September 4th at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC.  Celebration of Life to follow at the home of Tom and Carol.   For those not able to attend, the service will be available for streaming below.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to a dog rescue of your choice in Tom’s name.

Our family would appreciate you writing or recording any memories, stories or experiences you shared with Tom.  He was free spirited, spoke his mind and never held back.  That was his way.  So, we ask that you do not hold back either in sharing with us.  Also, if you have any pictures of Tom, please share those as well. These details of his life help keep him close in our hearts and we hope to collect them into a book for each of us to keep. Thank you in advance.
