Thomas J. Schlierf

Thomas J. Schlierf, 82 of Bluffton, SC passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 16, 2010.He was born in Buffalo, NY on December 22, 1927. He was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Hueschele Schlierf.He was a retired staff manager for Verizon Communications. He was a US Army veteran. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Junior Achievement. He was Past President of the Swormsville, NY volunteer Fire Department. He was a St. Vincent DePaul volunteer and an altar boy from grade school through high school. He was a Security Volunteer for Sun City; an avid woodworker and golfer.He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Gerri Donner Schlierf of Bluffton, SC; one son, Thomas D. (Jeannine) Schlierf of Dallas, TX; four daughters, Christine Burdick of Kenmore, NY, Carol (Jeffrey) Meyers of Cape Cod, MA, Susan (Patrick) Harris of Clifton Park, NY and Mary Beth (Robert) Picard of Weverton, NY; grandchildren, Scott Burdick, Heather Burdick, Carter Meyers, Cameran Meyers, Kassandra Harris, Bobby (Amy) Picard, Danielle Picard, Christopher Picard and Jonathan Schlierf and one great granddaughter, Ellia Burdick. He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Schlierf.The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 23, 2010.The family requests memorial donations be made to Serenity Palliative Hospice, 10 Plantation Park Drive, Suite 104, Bluffton, SC 29910.Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
