Thomas Edwin Schnaitman

In the loving embrace of his closest friends, Thomas Edwin Schnaitman peacefully left this earth on January 19, at his home on Hilton Head Island, shortly after receiving the last rites of the Catholic Church.

Tom was born in Marshall Michigan on July 6, 1948 to Jack and Mary Ann (Page) Schnaitman. He attended St. Mary School and Marshall High, graduating in 1966. Shortly after graduation Tom volunteered for service in the US Army, where he served with distinction in Viet Nam.

Upon returning to Marshall, Tom joined his father to manage their restaurant, the Fireside Inn. It was at the Fireside where Tom began entertaining all with his wonderful singing style.

In 1984 Tom moved to Hilton Head, a place he loved, and where he was loved by all who came to know him. There he accepted the position of Food and Beverage Manager at Rose Hill Country Club, later holding the same position at Hilton Head National. In 1997 Tom joined his great buddy Donald Carroll in opening now famous Katie O’Donald’s, where people will be fondly swapping stories of Tom for decades.

Besides running restaurants, Tom enjoyed golf and watching and wagering on college football.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sweet son, Kyle Thomas Schnaitman.

Surviving are his sister, Sue Ann, and brothers Jim (Dina), Dan (Sue), Jon (Sharon), best buddy Bob (Javene), and Eric (Benet). Tom is also survived by his nieces and nephews whom he adored, and who adored him. And by his namesake great nephew, Tommy.
