Thomas Pritchard Taylor, Jr.

Thomas Pritchard Taylor, Jr., age 94, passed away at Hilton Head Hospital, Hilton Head Island, SC on January 30, 2016. Mr. Taylor was born in Savannah, GA on September 30, 1921 to his late parents, Almeria Swann Taylor and Thomas Pritchard Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Petra W. Taylor, his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Taylor Blamey and Jerome Blamey of Denver, CO and his son, Richard Thomas Taylor of Albany, NY.

Mr. Taylor’s parents returned to Greensboro, NC, where he grew up. During World War II he was a B-24 Pilot with the 8th Air Force in England where he flew 33 missions over Europe. He attended Temple University in Philadelphia and New York University in New York City and spent his entire business career with Richardson-Vicks Inc., which was acquired by Proctor & Gamble shortly before he retired in 1987 as Director of Manufacturing for International Operations—he traveled extensively throughout the world.

Mr. Taylor and his wife moved to Hilton Head Island in 1987, where he was active in community affairs. He was a Commissioner of PSD No. 1 and was a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of the S.H.A.R.E. Senior Center on Hilton Head Island, a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler, GA, where he volunteered as a docent for more than five years. He was also the Founding President of the South Carolina Chapter of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society. He was a volunteer at the Hilton Head Island Computer Club for several years. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton, SC with a private burial in Beaufort National Cemetery.
