Thomas J. Wanket

Thomas J. Wanket, 73, was surrounded by his loving wife when he was peacefully called home to our Lord on May 22, 2009. Thomas was born on September 21, 1935 in Grosse Point, Michigan. He spent his early childhood in the Detroit area and St. Clair, Michigan. Tom was the son of Cyril and Rose Wanket. He graduated from Michigan State University and earned his Masters Degree from UCLA. Tom spent his career in food services, as Director of Food Service at UCLA and later University of South Carolina. He was employed with PYA, a division of Sara Lee, as Sales Manager, and later as Manager of Customer Service until his retirement in 1997. Tom is survived by his wife, Shirley D. Wanket; son,Tony Wanket (Kathie) of Columbia, S.C.; Daughter, Tanya Shuping (Jay) of Simpsonville, South Carolina; brothers, Achiel of Pioche, Nevada (Barbara/Eileen); Donald (Mary Ellen) of New Port Richey, Florida; Gerald (Barbara) of Rochester Hills, Michigan; Joseph of Madison Heights, Michigan; William of Honolulu, Hawaii; Richard (deceased); Sisters, Ruth Markle (Wally) of Clinton Township, Michigan; Lynda Manuzack (Michael) of St. Clair, Michigan; Sharon Dillaway (Walter) of Ray, Michigan; Sally Ceislinski (deceased). Services will be held at 11:00 AM at Low Country Presbyterian Church,10 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton on May 26, 2009. Reception will be held at Riverbend Clubhouse at 1:00 PM.
