Valborg (Val) Cannon

Valborg (Val) Cannon entered eternal rest peacefully 9 January 2021 at Springer Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Bluffton, South Carolina. She was living with her sister Mary Hubbs in Sun City, South Carolina.

Val's passion for life was one of her strongest attributes. Her beautiful smile and love she gave her family and friends will always be remembered. She was born in Trail County,  North Dakota to her parents Norval and Minnie Olson 5 January 1927.   She graduated from Clifford High School and went on to Deaconess School of Nursing in Grand Forks, North Dakota and became a registered nurse and met her husband Donald James (Jim ) Cannon.      Val was a registered nurse and Jim majored in finance.    They got married on 14 July 1949 in the Norman Lutheran Church in Clifford, North Dakota.   They lived in South Dakota and had their first born Dawn Lee in Sioux Falls in 1950. They later moved to Billings, Montana and Val worked as a registered nurse until their son Mark Douglas was born in 1955. Her husband Jim passed away in March 1992.   Val continued living in Billings until December of 1997 when she and her Mother moved to the South. They lived in Georgia with her sister Mary Hubbs and husband Robert. Val and her sister later moved to Sun City, South Carolina. Val is survived by a sister Mary E. Hubbs COL.(ret)  her son Mark Douglas Cannon and his wife Gerri Cannon,  Jonathan Warren Grandson,  and his wife Shannon, Gabriel Warren great grandson,  son in law Rick Sayre, step granddaughter Nicole Sayre Welter and husband Kevin and son Rhett.

Predeceased is her husband  Donald James Cannon, a World War II Veteran and Purple Heart recipient,  daughter Dawn Lee Gannon Warren Sayre, son-in-law Peter Warren,  parents Norval and Minnie Olson, brother Howard C Olson, and brother-in-law Robert Hubbs.    There will be graveside services at Veterans Cemetery in Billings, Montana at a later date.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Palmetto Animal League at 56 Riverwalk Blvd, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
