Verna Lee Mixson Tuten

Verna Lee Mixson Tuten, 101, widow of W. Lee Tuten, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Hampton Regional Medical Center in Hampton, SC.She was born in Grays, SC on September 19, 1909, the daughter of the late Stephen Mixson and Ethel Lela (Lee) Tindal Mixson.She was a Homemaker, Farmer and avid outdoors lady. She was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church.She is survived by two daughters, Hazel T. (Elton) Smith and Ellen T. (Quillie) Crosby, all of Grays, SC; one brother, Olin (Louise) Mixson, also of Grays, SC; four sisters, Vonette (Frank) Horton of Varnville, SC; Ethel Horton of Summerton, SC; Elizabeth Crews of Yemassee, SC; Margaret Calvert of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Cynthia (Willard) Long, Melinda (Benny) Stanley, Sarah (James) Clemens, Yvette (Dale) Smith and Kerry (Patricia) Crosby; five great grandchildren, Rhett Stanley, Dana Green, Amy Long, Barry Long, Faith Smith and eleven great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Noel Tuten; four brothers, Willie, Warren, Gary and Woodrow Mixson and one sister, Allean Simmons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC with burial in Phillipsville Cemetery.
