Vincent Joseph Colgan died peacefully in his home in Bluffton SC on May 9, 2024. Vince was married to and is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” McManus Colgan for over 58 years, his partner and love of his life.
He was born in Queens New York on November 24, 1942, to Rosalie and Michael Colgan and grew up in Brooklyn, attending St Augustine High School and Boston College. He was a die-hard Screaming Eagles fan, holding BC season football tickets for over 28 years and regularly followed and updated the family on many of their sports programs. All his children attended his alma mater.
Vince began his accounting career in 1964 at Peat, Marwick and Mitchell accounting firm, eventually working for Grolier publishing group as a Senior Vice President/Controller.
Vince was a parishioner of St Gregory the Great parish where he was an active member in the Ancient Order of Hibernians, helping manage annual golf tournaments and holding several offices. He was very proud of his Irish heritage, including holding and carrying an Irish passport and traveled to Ireland to visit his cousins and find his Irish roots. A regular family vacation would find him in the Irish Catskills for a week each summer, creating wonderful memories with the entire extended family.
Vince enjoyed his retirement to the fullest and was grateful for the wonderful friends he made in the Crescent. He was a board member of the POA and worked hard to improve his golf game. He had an impressive train collection and found happiness in setting them up for the family to enjoy.
In addition to his wife, Vince is survived by his brother Peter Colgan and sister Michelle Marks, and was predeceased by his sister Rosalie Andrea McGovern. He has three children. J. Andrew Colgan, spouse Alexis Colgan, Danielle (Colgan) Ruggiero, spouse Joseph Ruggiero and Michael J Colgan, spouse Gina Colgan. He was blessed with and loved his six grandchildren Erin, Caley, Stone, Tyler, Kieran and Robby.
