Vincent "Vince" Francis Scavo

November 26, 1927 — April 24, 2020

On April 24, 2020, Vincent “Vince” Francis Scavo, 92, peacefully passed away at his home with his loving wife, Norma J. Scavo , by his side.

Vince is predeceased in death by his beloved first wife of 36 years and the mother of his children, Lucy Y. Silvestri, his adoring mother, Liberata Bellino and his father Frank Scavo.

Vince was born November 26, 1927 in Albany, New York.  He was the youngest of three sons.

Vince was raised in Albany, New York and after graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Army, prior to the onset of the Korean War.  Vince was stationed in Korea as a radio operator and after completing his tour of duty he returned home to follow his dreams of working in the field of electronics.  His career goals changed when his mother became ill and needed help running her grocery store, Scavo’s Food Market in Albany, New York that she started on her own.

Vince unselfishly put his dreams aside and spent the next fifty years growing his mother’s business into becoming an integral part of the Southend of Albany, New York.  During this time Vince’s two sons joined him in expanding the business to become Scavo’s Food Market and Pharmacy.  Together they spent the next fifteen years continuing the success his mother began.

On April 26, 1952 Vince married Lucia “Lucy” Y. Silvestri (1927-1988) of Selkirk, New York.

They moved to Delmar, New York and lovingly raised their two sons.  Together they worked hard to see that their sons had an opportunity to go to college and become successful Pharmacists.  A wonderful gift that they bestowed on their children.

After Vince’s beloved wife, Lucy, passed away in 1988 his life once again unexpectedly changed.  He was blessed with meeting Norma J. Boyle and they were married September 15, 1991.  Vince and Norma spent the next 28 years watching their grandchildren grow and sharing in the joy of the birth of their three great grandsons.  They both enjoyed traveling and exploring new places.  In 1998 they moved to The Villages in Lady Lake, Florida.  In 2003 they moved to their current home in Bluffton, SC where they continued to enjoy life together surrounded by family and many dear friends.

Vince is survived by his wife Norma  J. (Boyle) Scavo, his two sons: Vincent F. Scavo (Melody) of Mooresville, NC, Louis V Scavo (Elizabeth) of Jacksonville, Fl, his two granddaughters and their families: Lea (Scavo), Henry, Christpher and Brycen Simmons, and Stephanie (Scavo), Jake and Jacob Finn Lee ; and his grandson David Scavo.

Vince is also survived by his dear sister-in-law Loretta Crandall of Cohoes, NY and his long time friend and brother-in-law, Al Boyle of Holly Springs, NC.

Vince will be remembered fondly as a kind, loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many.

A very endearing and respected man will be watching over us all.
