Virginia “Ginger” Anderson Gerspach

Virginia “Ginger” Anderson Gerspach, 82, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away on September 10, 2026, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

Ginger was born on November 8, 1943, in Easton, Pennsylvania. She was raised on College Hill, attended March Elementary School, and graduated from Easton Area High School in 1961. She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1965 and continued her education at Temple University, earning her master’s degree in elementary education as well as her principal’s certificate.

Ginger devoted 38 years to education, teaching second grade in the Interboro School District at Norwood Elementary School in Norwood, Pennsylvania. Her dedication to her students and the teaching profession was recognized when she received The Pennsylvania State University Outstanding Teacher Award in 2000. Throughout her nearly four decades in the classroom, Ginger left a lasting impact on generations of students and their families.

Ginger had a special gift for bringing learning to life beyond the classroom. For many years, she took her students to Washington, D.C., where they visited the White House and the U.S. Capitol and laid wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. She inspired curiosity, a love of learning, and a deeper appreciation for our country in all who knew her.

Ginger married David E. Gerspach in 1968, beginning nearly 58 years together filled with family, cherished friendships, and countless wonderful memories. An avid Penn State football fan and Philadelphia sports enthusiast, Ginger also treasured summers “down the shore” in Avalon, New Jersey, as well as trips to the casinos with her twin sister, Carolyn. After moving to Bluffton, South Carolina, Ginger especially enjoyed having her family and grandchildren close by and being a part of their everyday lives.

Ginger was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church and, over the years, was also affiliated with the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley (Emeritus Status), Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pennsylvania, The Pomfret Club of Easton, Ducks Unlimited International, and a member of the Penn State Alumni Association of the Low Country. She was also a devoted dog lover.

Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Elwood C. Anderson, and her brother, Donald C. Anderson.

Ginger is survived by her husband, David E. Gerspach; her niece, Virginia B. O’Gorman, and her husband, Timothy; her nephew, Colonel Hugh Bloom III; her niece, Kimberly A. Wismer, and her husband, Austin; her nephew, Scott C. Anderson, and his wife, Angela; her twin sister, Carolyn A. Bloom; her sister-in-law, Ann Anderson; and her grandchildren, Caroline E. O’Gorman and Timothy P. O’Gorman Jr.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 16 at 12:00 p.m. at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, South Carolina. A reception will follow at the Okatie Ale House in Okatie, South Carolina.
