Vivian (Smith) Davis

Vivian Smith Davis, age 93, of Ridgeland, South Carolina, passed away at Coastal Carolina Medical Center from a heart attack on July 17, 2023.

Vivian was born on December 11, 1929, in Grays, South Carolina, and was the daughter of Grover Reese and Eleanor Long Smith.

Vivian graduated from Grays, High School in 1945 as valedictorian. She played basketball in high school and enjoyed playing and watching golf. She also was an avid Clemson football fan. She never missed a Saturday wearing orange and watching the Tigers play.

Vivian worked for the South Carolina Industrial Commission in Columbia, SC and was a licensed insurance agent in the State of South Carolina and worked for many years at the Ridgeland Insurance Agency in Ridgeland, SC.  She grew up attending Pine Level Baptist Church and became a member at the young age of 12 years old. Also, she was a member of the Ridgeland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in her death by her husband Archie Berlmont Davis, her parents, and two (2) sisters, Matilda Smith of Grays, SC, and Betty Mears of the Town of James Island, SC.

Vivian is survived by her children- daughter Teresa D. Kendle of Ridgeland, SC; son A. Berl Davis, Jr (Martha) of Bluffton, SC.  She is also survived by her sister, Zelda Stanley of Grays, SC and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20th from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at Sauls Funeral Home in Ridgeland, SC. Following the visitation, the service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Ridgeland Cemetary immediately following the service.
