Vivian Poplin

AIKEN - Vivian Poplin, 90, entered into rest on Monday, November 11, 2013, in Aiken, SC. Born on September 29, 1923, in Rockingham, NC, she was a homemaker for many years. She also ran a bakery on Hilton Head Island in the early 1970s, then after raising her children, she began a full-time career at Hargray Telephone Co. in the accounts department where she was employed for more than 20 years. Throughout her life, one of her greatest joys was traveling to be with family, and she spent many pleasant years living with her children, eventually settling in Aiken. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh David McDougald and Martha Roller McDougald, and her husband of almost 50 years, William Frank Poplin. She is survived by her brother, Hugh David McDougald, Jr. of Savannah, GA; her daughters, Martha Love, Jackson, MS; Melba Hickey (Larry), Bluffton, SC; Melissa Hammer (Tim), Hallsville, TX; her sons, Hugh Frank Poplin (Sherry), Aiken, SC; W. David Poplin (Anne), Aiken, SC; Steven Lynn Poplin (Tammy), Texarkana, TX; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC 29910. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Bluffton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joey McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, GA. Pallbearers will be her ten grandsons: Bill Doonan, Tony Doonan, David Love, Josh Love, Larry Hickey, Jr., Justin Hickey, Clayton Hickey, Jason Hammer, Matthew Hammer, and H. D.
