Wade K. Tillman

Wade Kola Tillman, 78, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away on May 1, 2021 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Wade is survived by his wife of 54 years, Allene Turner Tillman, his son, Wade Robert Tillman; his daughters Sandra Tillman Daniels (Charlie) and Angie Boulware (Paul); six grandchildren, Alicia Echols (Rodney); Ashley Tillman, Hillary Helms (Joe); Jessica Williams (Tyler); Travis Boulware (Beth) and Alex Daniels; seven great grandchildren, Zach Echols, Jayla Echols, Wyatt Williams, Hannah Williams, Jackson Helms, Kennedy Helms and Peyton Boulware, and one great-great granddaughter Kiakalaya Echols.

Wade was one of nine siblings born to the late Wade S. Tillman and Ruby Riley Tillman on July 29, 1942 in Ridgeland, SC.  Bobby Tillman (Jan), Carl Tillman, Wilbur Tillman (Diane), and Patricia Tillman all survived Wade.  He was predeceased by Jack Walker, Henry Tillman, Alice Walker Long, and Louise Duncan.

Wade was a butcher for 30 years, and a carpenter, and also owned and operated Wade Tillman Builders and Tillman’s Produce, along with his wife Allene.  He was a life member of the Maye River Baptist Church.  The saltwater river was his passion as he knew all the creeks like the back of his hand and would enjoy, fishing, crabbing, and shrimping.  Wade was known for his humor, kind and witty, which all Tillman brothers shared. He was passionate about plants and gardening and could grow anything from a cutting. A little known fact is Wade appeared in the movie “Forrest Gump” as a farmer driving an old tractor down the road.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of the service, on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Maye River Baptist Church.  Funeral services begin at 11:00 am at Maye River Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Maye River Baptist Church Cemetery.
