Walter Richard Criddle

We would like to announce the passing of Walter R. Criddle, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Walter went to be with the Lord while surrounded by his family. He spent many years serving his community as a firefighter for Hilton Head Island Fire Department and later becoming an officer for the Town of Bluffton and eventually the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, where he had a great impact on many people. He loved being a part of Bluffton. The salt water ran through his veins. He was a staple in the community and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie, of 42 years; his two daughters, Megan (Chip) Beach and Heather (Chris) Cook; his biggest blessings-his grandchildren, Cooper, Mason, Harper and Levi; brother, Charlie Criddle; nieces, Paige (Cody) Mainland and Chrissy (Al) Criddle-Bacchini; many other nieces and nephews; best friend, Jojo (Tracy) Woodward; and adopted son, Jerrod Braxton. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Emma Lee Criddle and brother Bobby Criddle.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC.
