NettlesOkatie, SCWalter Elliott Nettles, 84, died Sunday, May 04, 2008 at his home in Okatie, SC.He was born in Ridgeland, SC on August 13, 1923 to the late Jim Edward Nettles and Ophelia Smart Nettles. He was a cabinet maker and a member of Okatie Baptist Church. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII in the Pacific and was present at the battle of Guadalcanal.He is survived by his wife, Edith Mears Nettles of Okatie, SC; two sons, James Nettles of Grays, SC; Wayne (Rhonda) Nettles of Jacksonville, SC; two daughters, Trudy Bush of Okatie, SC; Faye (Greg) Manning of Shorter, AL; one brother, Warren Nettles of Walterboro, SC; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Okatee Baptist Church, 991 Okatie Highway, Okatie, SC with burial in Ridgeland Cemetery, Ridgeland, SC. A visitation will be held from 6 til 8 pm, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams Street, Ridgeland, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Okatee Baptist Church Building Fund, 991 Okatie Highway, Okatie, SC 29909.Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
