Walter Earl Smith, Jr. passed away Tuesday, July 15 in Savannah. He was the son of the late Walter Earl Smith Sr and Lillie Thomas Smith of Grays SC and Savannah. He grew up in Grays S.C. where he attended Grays Comprehensive High School and was a WWII veteran. For over 50 years, he owned Household Rental Sales and Service in Savannah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Nora Smith Richardson, wife Audrey Anna Smith, wife Margaret Hollingsworth Smith, brothers Edsel Smith of Florence, SC, Billy Smith of Savannah, and sisters Rose Wada of Savannah, Bessie Thomas of Hampton SC, and June Stalvey of Aynor, SC..

Survivors include son Bruce Smith (Pam) of Athens, GA, daughter Carol Ann Ayer (Birkie) of Augusta, GA, stepson Rocky Hollingsworth (Marguerite) of Green Cove Springs, FL, four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the friends who visited and gave comfort to him in the last few years. The family especially extends thanks to his caregiver for the last two years, Pam Henry, who provided exceptional love, care, and companionship.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 18 at 11:00 AM at Nixville Baptist Church, Estill, SC, with Dr. David Laughner officiating.
