Wayne Oestriech

Bluffton, SC – Wayne Leland Oestreich 87, passed away on April 6, 2023.

Wayne was born in Grand Rapids, Wisconsin on July 6, 1935, the son of Leland W. Oestreich and Irene Emily Schacht.

Wayne worked 39 years for Citgo Petroleum. He had various positions in the sales and marketing division.  Wayne was Citgo’s Man of the Year two times, along with many other sales awards during his career. Upon moving to South Carolina, Wayne was working with Del Web Sun City showing and explaining the Sun City lifestyle. Wayne had a genuine love of people.

In 2015, Wayne was inducted into the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame, where he graduated in 1953 as a multi-sport athlete.  Better known as Skoog, he was a sophomore on the Red Raiders 1951 WIAA State Basketball Tournament Championship Team.  Wayne played throughout high school in football and track and field.

In addition to Wayne’s parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Johnnie Ann Byrum Oestreich.

Wayne is survived by his daughters, Beverly Scott (Mario) and Amanda Harris, in addition to grand and great-grandchildren, brother Roger Oestreich, sister Faye Schneider and nephew Mark Schneider.
