Willard Gray Herring

Willard Gray Herring, 95, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 in Bluffton, SC. He was born on August 25, 1922 in Clinton, NC. He married Jenny Lou (Jones) Herring on September 11, 1947 and celebrated 70 wonderful years together. He is survived by 4 sons: Donald Gray (Shirley), Thomas Lee (Sharry), David Wade (Pam), and John Willard (Cecilia); 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers and 4 sisters. Gray served with the United States Navy on the USS Massachusetts from April 1942 – August 1945. He retired from The Army Corps of Engineers in 1981. Retired to Maggie Valley, NC then resided in Sun City-Hilton Head for 15 years. The family is grateful for the care he received at Canterfield of Bluffton and Hospice Care of the Lowcountry. The family will grieve privately.
