William Peter Byrne

William Peter Byrne of Bluffton, SC died at his Rose Hill home on Tuesday, September 9, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Anne-Patricia (nee McGann) of Bluffton and one son Jeffrey E. Byrne (Angela) of Elm City, NC, three grandchildren: Rachel E. Byrne of Wake Forest, NC, Steven H. Anderson of Skovlunde, Denmark, Michelle P. Anderson and Sini Anderson also of Denmark, and one brother Robert Byrne of Ocala, FL. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on July 18, 1929 to the late Peter W. and Lillian Wilson Byrne. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Donna Marie (nee Byrne) Anderson and his brother James. Bill was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, where he was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus having served as Past Grand Knight; District Deputy, and chairperson of the Albany, NY Conference of District Deputies until permanently retiring to Bluffton in 2004. As a part of the Cardinal Bernadine Council, he has served as Past Faithful Navigator and Color Core Commander. Recently, he was presented with a 25 year service award from this Council. While living in NY State, Bill was a Paul Harris Scholar Rotarian, and affiliated with the BPOE of Greene County, NY. Visitation will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 on Monday, September 15 between 4:00-7:00 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909 at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Interment will follow at Beaufort National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Momfort Fathers, c/o Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton. Visitation will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 on Monday, September 15 between 4:00-7:00 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909 at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014.
