William (Bill) Clifford Cummins passed away peacefully at home in Hilton Head Island surrounded by his wife and two daughters. Bill was born on June 18, 1943, in The Bronx, NY and grew up in Massapequa Park, Long Island, where he met his future wife of 58 years Florence (Flip) Cummins at 12 years old. He served in the Air Force and worked many jobs before finding his true calling as an elementary school teacher. Bill was a remarkable teacher who inspired countless children through his passionate and innovative teaching style. With a camera always around his neck, the schools he taught in eagerly anticipated his poignant slideshows that captured the learning experiences of students and staff. He was a bowler and baseball player in his younger years, and an avid golfer in his later years. Bill was a devoted husband and an exceptional father to is two daughters Suzi (Squirt) and Kelli (Pumpkin). He loved his family fiercely and was THE charismatic and fun Husband, Dad, Grampy, Brother and Uncle. He is survived by his wife Florence (Flip) Cummins, daughters Suzanne (Louis) Foppiano, Kelli (Troy) Branson, his beloved grandchildren: Max, Molloy, Keaton and Smith, his three younger sisters Irene, Peggy and Patricia, sister-n-laws, brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Kathlene Cummins and his younger brother, Robert Cummins. A Funeral Mass for Bill will be held on Thursday, January 30 at 10am at St. Francis by the Sea, Hilton Head Island. A Celebration of Life is being planned for the summer of 2025. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
