William "Bill" Dennis DiSabato, 72, of Bluffton, SC, passed away on July 15, 2023. Born on December 23, 1950, in Pittsburgh, PA, Bill was a true gentleman known for his kindness and attentive nature. He was a great listener and had a deep love for Pittsburgh sports. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Wilson DiSabato, his son, Christopher DiSabato, and daughter-in-law, Estelle DiSabato. His Grandchildren Lucien and Josephine DiSabato were the sparkles in his eyes. They will surely miss their Pappap. Bill is also survived by his cousins Juanita Vitulla and husband, Andy, John Curcio and wife Dineen, Dennis Curcio and wife Stacy, dtr Givanna, Andrea Vitulla, Dawn Vitulla Comis, husband Pete and children Mary Comis, Peter Comis and wife Catherine, dtr Elizabeth. Bill and Bev buried their beloved son, Adam DiSabato, 3 years ago. Never a day went by that Adam’s name wasn’t mentioned in prayer or remembrance. Bill is also preceded in death by his mother, Jean DiSabato, his father, William E. DiSabato, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charlene and Richard Wilson. Bill was loved and respected by all who knew him. He loved spending time with and helping niece Katey Wilson and talking with nephew Nick Cubarney. When in Pittsburgh, dinners with Bev’s cousins, the Flannery’s, Connell’s, and Polidora’s were always on the calendar. The Lauffer’s and Malone’s are treasured family and held a special place in Bill’s heart. Bill and his cherished friend, Art Wilband, solved all the world’s problems in one or the other’s garage, sharing a cold one.
Bill earned his BA from the University of Pittsburgh and proudly served in the U.S. Navy and maintained strong military connections within his network. After retiring in 2013 following decades of management and leadership roles with global corporations Volkswagen, Volvo and Moen, Bill pursued a second career as the Director of Operations at SarahCare of Forest Hills in Pittsburgh, his and Bev’s business of 22 years. He was greatly admired and respected by his colleagues, clients, and their families.
Bill and Bev were married at St. Bernadette Church in Monroeville and worshipped there whenever they were in town. Since moving to the Hilton Head area, they became active parishioners at St. Gregory the Great in Bluffton, SC. Bill actively participated in a men's weekly prayer group and frequently spent time in the Adoration Chapel as an adorer of Our Lord. Bill and Bev shared a strong prayer life and prayed the Rosary together daily.
So many memories! A running joke in the family was that the first thing Bill asked for in a restaurant was extra napkins. Can’t be too safe, he would say. If you were under age 10—and even older—you were guaranteed a frog-bite or too until you cried out in submission. All the nieces and nephews can attest to this. And our pup, Sugar. Bill would lament that while he did the feeding, the cleaning, the grooming, Sugar would follow me like a shadow. He loved her like no other and her death in March hit him hard. In his free time, Bill enjoyed working in his yard and his home. He took great joy in creating and maintaining a beautiful home which brought much happiness to Bev. Bill also enjoyed recreational shooting with his son, Christopher, and special friend, Art Wilband. He had a passion for travel and explored both Europe and the United States. Bill was an action movie buff, sports enthusiast and avid reader, particularly enjoying history books and biographies.
