William "Bill" Gene Talcott, Jr.

May 25, 1954 — February 26, 2023

William G. “Bill” Talcott passed away peacefully at his home in Bluffton, SC with his family at his side. He was born on May 25, 1954 to the late Bill and Joyce Filbert Talcott in Anchorage, AK. He followed in his father’s footsteps, making a career in the United States Air Force. After living in many states and four foreign countries, Bill medically retired from the military due to being physically challenged by multiple sclerosis. He and his family retired to Statesboro, GA. Those who met him were impressed by his resolve and determination. His motto was you have to grin and bear it, keep on moving and never give up. In his younger, more able years, Bill enjoyed running half and full marathons, playing racquetball, bowling and biking. As his disease progressed, he enjoyed tinkering with his slot cars, woodworking and making models. He also enjoyed reading, discussing automobiles and audio equipment, and listening to music. His favorite music was classic rock and jazz.

Bill received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Statesboro First United Methodist Church. After moving to Bluffton, he was a member of St. Andrew’s by the Sea United Methodist Church.

Bill loved his family and would do anything that he could for them. He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Bluffton, SC; two sons and their wives, Jason (Amanda) of Adie, VA and Daniel (Dianne) of Savannah, GA; one daughter and her husband, Caitlin (Alan Thompson) of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA; one brother and his wife, Don Talcott (Lisa McArthur) of Decatur, GA; and one sister and her husband, Patty Perkins (Dennis) of Valdosta, GA.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, social workers and therapists of the following: Veterans Hospital, Pruitt and Intrepid Home Health, Intrepid Hospice and Senior Helpers. A special thank you and gratitude to “our angel,” Kelly Perry, who has been a Godsend.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 10, 2023 in the Eastside Cemetery, Statesboro, GA.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Disabled Veterans of America or any hospice of choice.
