William Edward Griffin

William Edward Griffin, 97 of Bluffton, SC passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at his home.He was born in Astoria, NY on August 4, 1912. He was the son of the late William and Caroline Screnda Griffin.He was a retired environmental engineer. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church and he was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Bellmore, NY.He is survived by two sons, William Paul (Ann) Griffin of Bluffton, SC and Wayne A. (Kelly) Griffin of Anderson, SC; one brother, James Griffin of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren, Debbie, Dawn, William, Dylan, Harrison, Chase and Farrell; and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Donald Griffin.The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 2, 2010 with entombment at Hillcrest East, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah, GA. The family will receive friends from 5 til 7, Monday evening at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC.
