William Robert Hunchar Jr.

William R. Hunchar Jr., of Bluffton, SC, passed away in the ER of Hilton Head Medical Center on July 2, 2017, due to complications of kidney and heart disease. He was 74. William (Bill) was born on February 26, 1943, in Hazleton, PA. He was the son of Helen (nee Kistulentz) and William R. Hunchar Sr. Bill grew up in Philadelphia, PA, and lived most of his adult life in Northeastern PA. He was a graduate of Widener University with a degree in business. Prior to retirement, he worked as a Procurement Specialist for Pennsylvania Power and Light in Berwick, PA. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Hunchar (nee Strittmatter). He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Brendan Bambrick (Charlotte, NC), as well as his beloved grandsons Ryan, Thomas, and William Bambrick (all at home). Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pauline Harness. Bill enjoyed music and was a saxophonist in the Woodland String Band in Philadelphia in the 1960's. He also loved fishing, golf, poker nights, and Fox News. A Celebration of Life will be held at Sauls Funeral Home,90 Simmonsville Rd. Bluffton. Family and friends may call at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 8, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Palmetto Animal League.
