William “Bill” Leroy Freeman

William “Bill” LeRoy Freeman, age 76, of Beaufort, SC and formerly of Hilton Head, SC died Monday, April 17, 2017. Mr. Freeman was born on October 7, 1940 in Portland, IN, the son of the late Iris and Orville Freeman. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, earning a degree in Interior Design. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy, retiring as a Commander from the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was an accomplished artist, working as an interior designer and decorator for many years on Hilton Head Island. He was a founding member and longtime coach for the Hilton Head Soccer Club and was a member of Church of the Palms. Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Freeman and his brother-in-law, Willard Redd. He is survived by his sons, Rev. W. Russell Freeman (Lia) of Little River, SC and McGeath Freeman (Andie) of Apex, NC; brothers, Joseph Freeman (Bonita Farris) of Portland, IN, John Freeman (Anita Weimer) of Indianapolis, IN, and Jack Freeman of Portland, IN; sisters, Susan Fitzpatrick (Mark) of Lebanon, IN and Karen Redd of Powell, OH; sister-in-law, Ruthann Weaver of Tipp City, OH; and grandchildren, Lillian, Wyndham Russell, Victoria, Bennett, and Wyndham McGeath. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2017 at Church of the Palms, 1424 Okatie Highway, Okatie, SC 29909. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2017 at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC 29902.
