William "Billy" Moser

William “Billy” P. Moser, 82, of Ridgeland, SC passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 at his home.

Billy was born January 6, 1943 in Roanoke, VA to the late Cloyd Oscar Moser and Margaret Plewis Simmons, and his late step-father, Andrew Louis Simmons. He moved to Ridgeland at 15 years old and began working in the area as a mechanic. He ultimately met and married the love of his life, Marjorie “Punkin” Carroll on March 6, 1962. They were married just shy of 56 years, when Punkin passed away in 2018.

After working as a mechanic, Billy later became the plantation manager for Turkey Hill Plantation for 18 years. He then returned to the automotive industry, opening Moser’s Auto Service in 1982.

Billy loved his two Jack Russell Terriers, Willie and Willie II. They would accompany him to the automotive shop, following Billy foot-for-foot and greeting customers. Billy enjoyed freshwater fishing, teaching his children and grandchildren how to bait a hook at a young age. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Billy is survived by his son, Lawton Moser and his daughter, Ginger Stoner; brother, Timothy A. Simmons of Ridgeland; sister, Jill S. Berkey of Ridgeland; four grandchildren, Jordan Moser, Drew Moser (Becca), Saylor Olivas (Nathan), and Blake Stoner (Kathryn); and great-grandchildren, Marcy Moser, Everly Olivas, Riley Olivas, and Sarah Anne Stoner. In addition to his wife, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Richard C. Moser.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
